Ways to Build Links

Ways to Build Links

by Jorjeo Iveniscovich

Having an active marketing method that delivers a constant stream of high quality web traffic is definately an achievable task. In order to gain traffic you need a big web presence, and to get a substantial presence first of all you have to have a good quality website that Google can easily read, and second, a back-catalogue of good quality links pointing at your site from as many other authority sites as possible.

Although this sounds quite difficult and complex, reasonably easy to achieve because of all the systems that are around that can do it for you. First though, you need to grasp the concept that not all links are equal. Google Page Rank is a good indicator of how much a link from a given site will be worth. Google ranks pages 0-10, 0 being the least valuable sites that is knows about, and 10 being the most valuable and popular sites. Below rank 0 or n/a means either that Google isn't aware of the sites existance or that you should avoid that site because it has been blacklisted.

In a perfect world, we'd all have lots of links from the home-pages PR-10 sites, however the fact that there are only around 10 PR-10 sites that exist somewhat hinders this approach, and those 10 or so won't usually link to many other websites because they don't need to, have nothing to gain from it, and would never stop receiving link requests. Even slightly lower PR sites, like PR-7/8s are very picky about who they link to. These highly ranked sites are known as "authority" sites and tend not to link to lower ranked sites (not very often anyway) because they simply have nothing to gain from it.

Your mission is to get as many sites with some PR or the potential to soon get some PR to link to you as possible. This means in effect that getting a link from a newish site that hasnt been live long, has no PR but is working on link building is a good strategy to adopt in the longer term. Google only allocated PR twice per year, so if you are unlucky you might need to wait months in order to gain some PR. The amount you are given will depend upon the link juice you squeeze from all the sites that link to you. The more, high pr sites you receive a link from, the higher your PR will ultimately be.

So what do you do to acquire as many links as you need? Well, people have been arguing over the best answer to that since the beginning of Google, but there are several options. You can scoure the web for sites that actively link. There are a lot of site for reciprocal link management, but reciprocal links are being seriously de-valued by the major search engines because they can see that there has been an agreement made, therefore the links are unnatural. They are still worth something though, as some reciprocal linking is natural, such as, supplier to cutomer etc.

By far the most efficient way to get to the good seats in the search engine results ranking (at the top) is with one way links (getting sites to link to you without you having to link back). As people aren't very inclined to give away links for nothing, this can be quite difficult. Some sites may just genuinely like your site's content and give link to you as a resource for their users, but generally speaking, you will have to give them return

You may have some difficulty with this if you only have one website, or if you have two that are hosted in the same place, they'll have the same IP address and so it will look to search engines as if they are they the same site. The are lots of solutions to this problem, but one way links are definately the most effective.

Effectively, your site is entered into a triangular arrangment where your site (site A) links to site B, which then links to site C, which then links back to site A (your site) this is beneficial to each site to the value of one one-way link. The big search engines cannot trace these links and so they reward you with a big push up the results rankings. - 20490

The Role of Inbound Links in SEO

The Role of Inbound Links in SEO

by Brent Sweet

The quality of your inbound links is a key factor that search engines will use to rank your pages. Contrary to popular belief, the number of links you have is not that important. Having a few high quality links is much better than having a bunch of links that are low in quality. Inboud links can be defined as the links that are added to other websites which point back to your site, sending traffic to it. There are a number of strategies you can use to get high quality inbound links. Remember, the quality, not the quantity, is the most important factor you will want to take into consideration. One of the most common ways to get quality inbound links is to exchange links with sites that are similar in theme to your own.

To do this, all you have to do is find websites that are related in topic to your own, and email the webmaster for a link exchange. In most cases, the webmaster will be happy to exchange links with you. Another way for you to get good inbound links is to make posts on either forums or blogs. Most of these sites will allow you to add your website's link to your signature, and those who read your posts can click on the link and be taken to your homepage. Both of the methods discussed in this paragraph are free strategies that you can use to build inbound links. However, there are a number of payment options can use to further enhance your inbound links.

One of the most common techniques is to buy a text link on a page with high PR. While some have argued that Google frowns on this, it is a common way to build up traffic. After all, if a text link to your site is clearly visible on a PR 7 page, it is very likely that you will receive large amounts of traffic from this link. It is for this reason that many webmasters are willing to pay more than $50 per month just to have their link on a page with high PR. It will increase both their page rank and their traffic. Page rank is another thing that you can increase by getting high quality inbound links. Page rank is the number Google will use to measure your site.

The lowest page rank is 0, and the highest is 10. Every brand new website will start out with a page rank of 0. While it is possible to increase the page rank to 10, only a few websites ever get this high. However, the higher your page rank, the more value you will have with the search engines. The best way to increase your page rank is to get a large number of quality inbound links.

The rank of the page linked to your webpage will determine its page rank. - 20490

What Is Search Engine Marketing?

What Is Search Engine Marketing?

by Brent Sweet

It's in our genes, we're driven to seek. We 'hunt' for food, homes, partners, jobs and lately - with the advent of the Internet - information.

Even in the early years of the Internet, before it evolved to include Web browsers, there were text based search engines. Back then they had funny names like Archie, and Gopher. It was only later, when the graphical browser was invented, that searching became much easier and accessible for the rest of us.

The concept behind Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is quite simple: when a consumer or business person searches the Web through either a text box or by clicking through a directory hierarchy, they are in "hunt mode." This mode is unique because it indicates that the person is looking for information. Marketers understand this "hunt mode" means the searcher is probably somewhere in the buying cycle, researching a product or service to fill an immediate or future need.

It's this 'timeliness' that makes search engine results some of the best sources of targeted traffic, whether that traffic originates from "organic" unpaid search listings or paid (sponsor) advertising listings.

To leverage the power of targeted traffic, marketers must understand how to effectively use both paid and organic SEM and what they can expect each methodology to achieve.

Search engine traffic is unique because:

Presenting your message within the search engine traffic is non-intrusive. The searching is not interrupted and your message "arrives" just when the searcher is seeking knowledge or a solution.

Search engine traffic results from a fixed inventory of searches. To truly qualify as search engine traffic, the search must be one that the searcher initiated as a search, either by clicking a search link or by entering a search query.

Search engine traffic originates from a voluntary, audience-driven search. This means the visitors arriving from a search have selected your listing and chosen the words that match.

Natural or "Organic" search engine marketing combines the best practices of technology, usability, copy/linguistics and online PR. This is because many search engines base their relevancy algorithms on a combination of the text they see on a page or site, combined with external elements such as links and user behaviours/preferences.

These days, Marketers can buy text-link search results on all of the top search sites. The popularity of paid search results advertising can be attributed to the search engines' need for alternative revenue sources, marketers' increasing requests for search results traffic, and the high value of the traffic generated through search results.

Unpaid (otherwise known as organic or algorithmic) search engine traffic was once fairly easy to get - but this was before there were more than 3 billion documents competing for attention of the search engine databases!

Some marketers believe there are "tricks" which will improve the relevancy of their indexed sites. Using tricks to fool the search engines is dangerous because many of these 'tricks' result in negative relevance penalties (they actually lower your ranking score!) as the engines take measures to punish search marketers who try and manipulate their systems. Remember, site and IP Blacklists do exist and 'tricks' are one sure-fire way to get yourself added.

The good news is there are many compelling and legitimate organic search engine optimizations. Some of the best ones focus on content - the mainstay of the Internet. Particular efforts should be focused on copy (the words), the site design (it's an artful balance between what the computerized search engine needs and what the human searcher wants), HTML formatting, and other technical considerations.

Online marketing is a proven and valuable part of an overall integrated marketing campaign. And it all begins by understanding the precise keywords and search terms your ideal prospect is using to search the Internet. Find these and you unlock the potential of the Internet. - 20490

NextGenLinks - Good Link Building Program

by David Fillaminion

[I:0:G]NextGenLinks is a new contextual linking service to improve your ranking in the search engines. This new services differs from most of it's competitors in that it provides contextual "deep" linking to every page on your site. This is much better for SEO and looks much more natural to search engines so you avoid the over-optimization penalties.

The new NextGenLinks service allows you a complete level of control over every link you both receive and send to others in the system. Outbound links from each page are limited to five to prevent too much pagerank leaving your pages. You can also automate the inbound link building which is the default if you do not want to control who links to you.

One thing I had trouble with during the testing was thier spider did not find all the pages on my wordpress site. Not sure where the bug is, but since the URL's are uploaded using a CSV file it was easy enough to make my own list. The minor issues will be fixed in time I'm sure.

The interaction and customer service from Charles Kassotis the owner has been amazing so far. From what I saw he replies quickly and answers people questions. I have not had the chance to test the rest of his Help Desk yet.

The basic process after joining is to register your domains, add a small piece of code to your domains, spider your domains, optionally edit and upload a CSV file of urls and keywords, then wait for inbound backlinks and approve outbound links. A fast and easy system considering all thing, though the inbound links did seem to be added not so quickly, but I'm sure that will improve as more users are joined to the system.

I have hopes NextGenLinks will only continue to improve in the future yet am pleased with what I see from it so far. Contextual and deep linking is the way of the future since it is so close to manual natural link building that Google, Yahoo, and MSN will love it. - 20490
